Cast wax foundations made of PURE BEE WAX, approx. 41x26 cm (approx. 10 foundations per kg). Note: in cold periods, wax foundations become more fragile and can break during transport. Therefore, it is advisable to purchase laminated wax foundations.
Cast and laminated wax foundations. Wax foundations can be obtained using two different methods: casting and lamination. In the first case, wax is melted and cast into moulds that generate the foundation. Cast wax foundations are much more accepted by bees since the wax physical structure is quite similar to the natural features of frames. In case of lamination, a smooth wax foundation is prepared first and then pressed with moulds to give it the shape of a frame. In this case, the double processing produces a higher compression of the foundation structure, which becomes more flexible. Cast wax foundations are more fragile than laminated ones, especially at low temperatures, but much more accepted by bees.
