Oriental and Vellutina Hornet and Wasp Trap for 82mm diameter pots (pack of 4)
4-PACK OF VASO TRAP® for capturing Oriental hornets, velvet hornets, hornets, flies, and many other harmful insects.
The most effective strategy for reducing Oriental hornets, velvet hornets, and Cabro hornets is based on early trapping in spring (February-March), when they emerge from hibernation. Ideally, use the VASO TRAP (a plastic bottle with a funnel) with sweet baits (beer, sugar, vinegar) to capture foundress queens before they form colonies, drastically reducing the future number of individuals and nests. Monitoring should continue until fall.
Trapping Foundress Queens (a top priority):
When: Late winter to early spring (February-March-April).
How: Near the apiary and in passageways.
Ideal Bait: 3/400ml beer + 2 tablespoons sugar + 50ml vinegar (vinegar repels bees).
Goal: Each queen captured is equivalent to preventing the emergence of an entire colony.
Queens are the only ones that survive the winter, so capturing them in the spring is crucial.
Minimizing Impact: Traps with specific baits (beer/sugar/vinegar) capture oriental hornets (and other wasps) without significantly harming the bees, thanks to the vinegar.
Vaso Trap® is a new colour trap for flying pests; designed in a perspective of reusing easily found containers. Vaso Trap® uses 1kg capacity glass jars (no Bormioli) used to pot honey. Vaso Trap® is a strong plastic cap consisting of two parts: a fennel to be placed on the mouth of the jar to prevent trapped insects from going out and a cover with six concentric access mouths for insects, protected from rain water, to be screwed onto the jar as the original cap. The bio trap Vaso Trap® can be hung on a support thanks to a specially provided ring or placed on a shelf or the ground, without no risk of overturning. The pleasant look of Vaso Trap® makes this bio trap particularly suitable for camping sites, holiday farms, balconies, country houses, houses with a garden and boats and offers an eco-friendly solution that respects people health.
